Ashby de la Zouch The Spa Town, Kenneth Hillier, paperback

When waters with curative powers were discovered during mining operations at nearby Moira, Ashby became a spa town. The Royal Hotel, railway station, terraces of stylish houses and of course the Baths themselves were built in the 19th century to accommodate the expected influx of "perons of quality".
